Now in its first season, the OK New Music Project is Oklahoma's premiere concert series dedicated to the exploration of contemporary music. The OK New Music Project is directed by Dr. Michael Kirkendoll and is hosted by OSU's Frontiers New Music Ensemble. The OK New Music Project is very thankful to the Fae Rawdon Norris Foundation and the DuoSolo Foundation for their support. 

 

The 2013-14 OK New Music Project will present a total of 10 concerts during the academic year, and will feature several renowned guest artists. In addition, OSU students will have the opportunity to work with young composers from the Cortona Sessions for New Music in the premiere of new works written specifically for the Frontiers New Music Ensemble.

• Samuel Adler, composer

•h2 Saxophone Quartet

The leading Saxophone Quartet of their generation, the h2 Saxophone Quartet features OSU faculty members Dr. Jeffrey Loeffert and Dr. Kim Loeffert, as well as Dr. Geoffrey Deibel (Wichita State University) and Dr. Jonathan Nichol (University of Oklahoma). h2 will present a program of new works including the premiere of a new work by OSU's Dr. Igor Karaca. click to visit the h2 Quartet's website

 

• Dr. Paul Barnes, pianist

Pianist Paul Barnes (University of Nebraska-Lincoln) will present a program of works written for, premiered by, and arranged by himself. The program will include music by Phillip Glass and others. click to visit Paul Barnes' website

 

• Amir Khosrowpour, pianist

• Fifth House Ensemble

In just six years, the Fifth House Ensemble has become one of the country's most important and influential new music ensembles. Fifth House Ensemble will present a multimedia program entitled Caught:  The Woods.
